September 2, 2008 - Saskatchewan College of Paramedics Appoints Executive Director

Brent Stewart, President of the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics, today announced the appointment of Lily Stonehouse as Executive Director and Registrar for the College. Lily brings to the College extensive experience in executive and senior management roles in the provincial government, SIAST and the regional college system.

Brent Stewart, President of the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics, today announced the appointment of Lily Stonehouse as Executive Director and Registrar for the College. Lily brings to the College extensive experience in executive and senior management roles in the provincial government, SIAST and the regional college system.

With the proclamation of the Paramedics Act on September 1, 2008, the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics assumes responsibility for the licensing and regulation of Emergency Medical Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), EMT – Advanced and EMT- Paramedics.

“The College will act in the public interest to ensure the competence and ongoing continuing education of these practitioners,” explained Mr. Stewart. “The College will also monitor the professional conduct of its members. Reporting to the College Council, Lily will lead the implementation of policies and systems to enable the College to carry out this new mandate.” There are approximately 1800 members across Saskatchewan working in Health, Fire and Industrial settings.
