Are you a former member of the College (inactive, non-practicing, retired, other)?

Have you thought about how you could help during the COVID-19 pandemic?

The College of Paramedics is now able to issue Pandemic Emergency Licences. In order to expedite issuance of these licences, the College has defined criteria (below) under which previous members can become re-licensed.

NOTE: Currency in certificates, Continuing Medical Education, or skills sign off is not required in order to qualify for licensure under the Pandemic Emergency Licence provisions.

Criminal record checks are still required and can be obtained locally, or using an online application through Sterling Backcheck.

Pandemic Emergency Licence Criteria

Non-practicing / inactive / retired for up to 2 years:

  • PCP 2011 NOCP, ICP, ACP, CCP will be issued a licence at the level they last held
  • EMR, EMT/PCP 2001 NOCP will be issued a licence at the EMR level

Non-practicing / inactive / retired between 2 and 5 years:

The Pandemic Emergency Licence will be valid for 90 days with the possibility of an extension as required. This licence will be offered at no cost for the initial 90-day period. Licencing fees may be applied if an extension is required.

Anyone wanting to remain licensed beyond the pandemic period will be required to fulfill all requirements for licensure for their own situation.

Things to consider before returning to practice:

  • Age-related risks: are you over the age of 65? If so, you are at a higher risk for a more severe form of the disease
  • Do you have a chronic illness or are you immunocompromised? If so, you are at a higher risk for a more severe form of the disease
  • Are you currently receiving Employment Benefits? If so, please connect with Service Canada for information
