Reinstatement

If you have allowed your Saskatchewan licence to lapse, follow the steps below to complete your reinstatement.

Requirements at a glance

  • Reinstatement application, which includes:

    • certificate of completion (EMRs only)
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector query (original)

Acquiring a licence from SCoP includes sending some items by postal mail and others online with the Reinstatement form. The online form requires several items to be attached to it and it can only be sent once. Applications are not processed until payment and all requirements have been received by SCoP. 

 

1. Reinstatement Application

Sign in to your SCoP Member Account and open the Reinstatement form found under the Applications tab. Notice: this form is currently offline while we complete the upgrade of our forms. Please contact us if you need to reinstate your licence.

To this form, you'll attach the requirements stated in steps 2, 3, 4, and 8 below. 

2. Transcripts and Certificates

Evidence of successful completion of a CMA-accredited training program or an equivalent program approved by Council is required. Download the Request for Transcript form (pdf) and have your institution forward original transcripts directly to SCoP. A photocopy of your certificate (EMRs are only required to send a copy of their certificate) should be uploaded with your application.

If you have not been licensed in Saskatchewan for 2-5 years, you will have to complete a Re-entry Program. If you have not been licensed in Saskatchewan for over 5 years, you will have to complete the program again in its entirety. 

3. Mandatory Certificates

Copies of the following mandatory certificates are required to be uploaded with your application in Step 2 above:

For EMR

  • BLS-HCP (C)

For PCP 2001 NOCP and PCP 2011 NOCP

  • BLS-HCP (C)
  • ITLS or PHTLS - Basic

For ACP

  • BLS-HCP (C)
  • ITLS or PHTLS -Advanced
  • ACLS
  • PALS or PEPP Advanced

All certificates must be current and not expired.

4. Continuing Medical Education and Skills

Proof of the following mandatory skills and continuing education credits are required to be uploaded with your application in Step 3 above:

For EMR

  • Mechanical Aids to Breathing
  • Medications Pertinent to Scope of Practice
  • 20 CME credits

For PCP 2001 NOCP

  • Medications Pertinent to Scope of Practice
  • 20 CME credits

For PCP 2011 NOCP

  • Supraglottic Airways
  • Medications Pertinent to Scope of Practice
  • 20 CME credits

 For ACP

  • Supraglottic Airways
  • Intubation
  • ALS Trauma:
    • Intraosseous infusion
    • Chest decompression
    • External jugular vein cannulization
  • ALS Cardiac:
    • Cardioversion
    • Transcutaneous pacing
  • ALS Pediatric:
    • Pediatric intraosseous infusion
    • Pediatric intubation
    • Pediatric cardioversion
  • Medications Pertinent to Scope of Practice
  • 20 CME credits

All mandatory skills must have been assessed within the past two years. The CME credits must have been completed in the last year.

5. Criminal Record Check

A criminal records check including a vulnerable sector check (completed by a police officer within the past 6 months). You must submit the original document. A copy will not be accepted. Please submit the original copy to: 202 - 1900 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4P 4K8

6. Licencing Exam

Reinstatement candidates who have never never written and passed one of our licencing exams will be required to do so. See Licensing Exam Info for more information.

7. Saskatchewan Jurisprudence

As part of your online application, you will be required to sign a declaration that you understand the SK Legislation framework and protocols for your scope of practice based on reading the following - The Paramedics Act of Saskatchewan, Regulatory Bylaws, Administrative Bylaws, Protocol Manual for your scope, and Renewal Requirements.This reading includes your annual renewal requirements. Please ensure that you have read and understand these documents before submitting your application.

8. Photo

For your member identification card, please attach a head and shoulders photo to your Reinstatement form in .jpg format. Selfies against a plain background are acceptable as long as you look professional. Shirt with a collar or a plain t shirt without logos are recommended. In uniform preferred.

In addition, a statement by a manager or notary public stating that you are the person in the photo, or a copy of your government-issued photo identification, should also be attached.

9. Reinstatement Fee

The reinstatement fee is $275, plus the applicable practicing fees. Payment can be made by Visa or MasterCard when submitting your application online. You may also pay by money order, certified cheque or employer cheque but note that your application will not be processed until payment has been received. Personal cheques will not be accepted
